Davidson’s article is one of a number of pieces that have recently appeared making the point that the reason we have such stubbornly high unemployment and declining middle-class incomes today is largely because of the big drop in demand because of the Great Recession, but it is also because of the advances in both globalization and the information technology revolution, which are more rapidly than ever replacing labor with machines or foreign workers.

解析：

本句的难点在于句子成分非常复杂，出现了从句嵌套的现象，因此，学生应该抓住句子主干后，逐步分析每一个从句。句子的主干为“Davidson’s article is one of a number of pieces“，主语是“Davidson’s article”，“is”为系动词，“one of a number of pieces”是主句的表语，主句是一个主系表结构。pieces后是由that引导的定语从句，引导词that在句子中充当定语从句的主语，“have recently appeared”是定语从句中的谓语，构成了主谓结构。“making the point”是后置定语用来修饰前面的“a number of pieces”。紧接着下一个that是同位语从句的引导词，同位语从句的主语是“the reason”，系动词是“is”，表语是“because of the big drop in demand because of the Great Recession”。在这个同位语从句中又嵌套了一个定语从句“we have such stubbornly high unemployment and declining middle-class incomes today”再次用来修饰主句的表语。接下来是连词“but”，与前面论述的内容相反，且转折之后的内容更重要。“but”后是第二个同位语从句，随后又跟了一个which引导的非限定性定语从句。
